Microdermabrasion and Review

Hey Guys,
So today’s blog is going to be about the scary world of Microdermabrasion!

So what actually is Microdermabrasion???

“Microdermabrasion is a light cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis”. -Wikipedia

Basically it is a deep exfoliator which also helps with the refining of skin surface and retexturising of the skin. Regular microdermabrasion treatment can help reduce or eliminate the wrinkles and fine lines, those pesky crows’ feet, age spots, light acne scars, and undesired pigmentation that may appear on the skin over time.

Now every evening I usually gently exfoliate my face as I’m taking off my make up with a wash cloth. This is used in conjunction with the Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm and is sufficient for a couple of days as it removes the dead skin cells that are on the surface of my skin. Before discovering Micro-Dermabrasion, I used a variety of face exfoliators and scrubs and most of them were extremely harsh and stripped my skin. Moreover, they didn’t actually remove any of my dead skin which left my forehead covered with dry patches which you could see through my make-up. As you can imagine, not a very nice sight! I had read about microdermabrasion products for the face but was slightly scared as it was a new market for me. I had done some research and one product kept popping up; “Kiehl’s Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion” and with mild trepidation I headed into trusty Kiehl’s to find out more.

As usual the staff in Kiehl’s were fantastic and before too long, a substantial amount of money was taken from my bank account and I was on my way home with my purchases swinging from my arm and eager to try out this new swanky wonder product.
So the key points of this product are

  • Advanced polishing cream with effective gentle exfoliating quality.
  • Skin texture feels significantly smoother and clearer.
  • Helps reduce the appearance of facial lines and discolorations.
  • Clinically demonstrated to refine skin surface and condition skin with micronized shells and willow herb and shea butter to soften.

I honestly think this is a fantastic product. The formula itself is a finely milled cream that is white in colour and is fairly thick. It’s easy to apply and holds on to the face well with no drop off. The texture is fine and not too harsh and as you work it into the skin you can feel the effect of the shells combining with your skin to give a fresh smooth finish. I honestly can’t believe the difference in my skin since using this. Gone are the dry patches, the redness I had on my cheeks and chin, my fine wrinkles I had around my eyes are looking a lot more ‘filled in’, my complexion on the whole is a lot brighter and I find my make-up goes on a lot smoother. It certainly is a wonder product. I would recommend you reading the instructions on how to apply closely and for first time users do a patch test. Once applied to the skin you can use your fingers to gently massage the product into skin in circular motions no longer than 2 mins and don’t be alarmed if you feel your face “tingling” this is just the product getting to work on your skin.

It comes in a tube and you get 75ml. I’ve had this now for going on 7 months and still got a quarter of a tube left and my husband also uses this. I use this once to twice a week and I would say that if you used this product correctly a tube would last you around a year, which is brilliant value for money. As with all Kiehl’s products they are very potent so you only need a small amount.

Thats all from me,

Happy buffing!

Much love,

Emma

As always, all products mentioned are bought and paid for my me and all views are my own.
